2009 Alex Bell Regatta - an official 25th Anniversary Dogwood Festival Event
17 boats and their crews enjoyed two warm and sunny days in the water this past weekend. Saturday's racing was canceled after three hours of waiting on the water due to lack of winds. Sunday morning proved slightly better as we had a light west wind that allowed the sailors to complete three races on a course that took them from just north of Granite RV Park to the west end of the Port of Clarkston's Gateway Dock then back upriver towards the Interstate Blue Bridge, then east to the confluence of the Clearwater River and back to the start line.
Two classes of boats raced. Class A featured San Juan 21's and 18' Flying Scots. Fleet B featured a variety of boats from 17' to 34' racing in a handicap scoring format.
